According to a 2017 PricewaterhouseCoopers survey of media & entertainment CEOs  75% of executives list technological change as one of the things that keep them awake at night. Nowhere is change happening more rapidly than in the online video industry. When video consumers say they’re going to watch TV. When video consumers say they’re going to watch TV, that could mean viewing content on any one of hundreds of different devices, from 60" UHD flat screens in the living room to a smaller screen connected to a gaming system or Amazon Fire TV, to a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone—and on connections that range from fiber to the home all the way down to 3G or event 2G cellular. Over the last five years or so, this dynamic has forced most streaming video producers to support multiple adaptive streaming technologies, and to transition on the desktop from Flash to HTML5-based technologies.
