Vecima Demonstrates DOCSIS® 4.0, Fiber Access, and Video Streaming Leadership at SCTE® Cable-Tec Expo 2022

Vecima Demonstrates DOCSIS
Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM) will showcase industry leadership at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2022 with technology demonstrations and panel presentations highlighting DOCSIS® 4.0, Entra® All-PON™, MediaScale Open CDN, and Dynamic Ad Insertion.Technologies on Display

Vecima will unveil its Entra EXS1610 All-PON solution with a live demonstration. Named by Dell’Oro Group as the market share leader for Remote OLTs, Vecima expands its Fiber Access portfolio with a flexible, compact, and powerful shelf-based platform that supports all predominant Passive Optical Network (PON) variants.

Vecima’s EXS1610 All-PON™ Shelf offers 16 XGS-PON, GPON ports (Combo PON), or 10G-EPON ports as well as 100G, 40G, 25G, and 10G uplink options. Continuing with a strong interoperability story, the EXS1610 will offer industry leading ONT/ONU interoperability and, as a temperature hardened chassis, a variety of physical deployment options.

In a collaborative showcase of DOCSIS 4.0 technology, led by Charter Communications, Vecima and other industry vendors will host a private demonstration of 1.8 GHz DOCSIS 4.0 technology. Based on Vecima’s collaboration with Charter Communications, recently presented at the CableLabs® 10G Showcase, the multi-vendor initiative will show the massive capacity available through incremental upgrades to existing HFC plant. Operators can take advantage of this opportunity to evolve their networks by working with Vecima now to get ahead of their technology planning cycles.

Vecima will also host live DOCSIS 4.0 speed test demonstrations in its booth (#7085), delivering 10G speeds over existing Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks. The Vecima Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) product portfolio, recognized by the Dell’Oro Group as the North America market share leader in Remote MACPHY and 10G-EPON Remote OLT solutions, is deployed by operators around the world.

A member of the Streaming Video Technology Alliance, Vecima will highlight its MediaScale Streaming portfolio, featuring Dynamic Ad Insertion, as well as its MediaScale Open CDN solution.

The MediaScale Open CDN Node can be provisioned via the Open Caching APIs to deliver and cache video content on behalf of the provisioning upstream provider’s content delivery network (CDN). It helps service providers monetize the terabytes of internet traffic delivered free of charge today and prepare their networks for the petabytes of content yet to come. The subscriber gets an improved viewing experience, without the headache of rebuffering and poor video quality.

Vecima’s recently announced Community Cache solution combines products from its MediaScale™ and Terrace™ portfolios. Locally deployed MediaScale MicroCaches aggregate traffic for video served to communities and multi-dwelling units (MDUs), freeing up valuable network capacity for high-speed broadband, resulting in lower latency, higher quality video. The latest version is compact and front-cabled for deployment flexibility, ruggedized, and temperature-tolerant to 55 degrees Celsius.

Quotes from Vecima Executives Attending SCTE Cable-Tec Expo
We’re partnering with operators to not only deliver solutions to meet their current needs, but plan for future applications and expansion,” said Dan Gledhill, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Vecima. “Open CDN will improve operator monetization of OTT content and the end-user experience. Our 10G products for both Cable and Fiber Service Providers will enable exciting future applications and compelling new services.

We’re seeing DOCSIS 4.0 performance that’s paving the way for cable operators to offer a true 10G service,” said Colin Howlett, Chief Technology Officer at Vecima. “By building on the existing Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) approach used in DOCSIS 3.1, and extending downstream and upstream to higher frequencies, the capacity of the network can be increased through the existing amplifier cascade without changing amplifier spacings.

“We’re proud to sponsor the 2022 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo during this time of transformation in the Service Provider industry 10G broadband and powerful video experiences allow our customers to deliver innovative new products and services. Vecima enables all of this by leveraging the investments operators have already made. Together we’ll evolve networks to deliver limitless broadband connectivity and entertainment.”

-Clay McCreery, Chief Operating Officer at Vecima.
