JW Player rolls out custom OTT video app service

JW Player is bringing to market a solution that will help companies that aren’t massive broadcasters or media conglomerates build OTT video apps. The new OTT Apps product will provide clients with a more cost-effective and faster way to build OTT video apps for connected TVs and mobile devices. OTT apps will be available across Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire as well as Android and iOS devices. The company said OTT apps can be developed for those platforms within a 15-day time frame. The product will allow brands to build customized viewing experiences, and access monetization and audience engagement tools. JW Player also will provide cross-platform reporting and workflow integration.JW Player will offer a choice of design frameworks optimized for viewer engagement by content type, along with integrated playlist, advertising, and caption management across web, mobile and connected TV platforms. “We’re thrilled to launch an OTT product that will get clients up and running in weeks, not months, while also supplying media companies with better reporting and monetization,” said Neil Deiter, vice president of global partner and product alliances at JW Player, in a statement. “Over the next few years, there will be a massive opportunity for media companies to get their content into audiences’ living rooms while controlling their brand and revenue streams.”
