Entrepreneur's Passion To Build Business Leads To Early Success

July 16, 2018 / Elizabeth Marg
Brandon Pindulic founded OpGenMedia in 2015 to help B2B tech companies acquire and qualify prospects on a performance model.OpGenMedia is not Brandon's first experience in the marketing world, nor in running a business. During his tenure as a demand generation manager at ProofHQ, Brandon's team grew SaaS business from $5 million ARR to just under $10 million ARR in 18 months. "We tested a ton of different things, and I had the unique opportunity to be leading a lot of those tests and doubling-down on what worked. It was an incredible experience. I handled all aspects of lead generation and demand generation, and had a big role in our lead nurturing strategies" says Pindulic. In 2015, ProofHQ sold to Workfront.

As a child, Brandon was always interested in making and selling things. His first formal experience as an entrepreneur came at the age of 16, when he co-founded Jazzberry Chauffeur Clothing Co. Starting with a t-shirt, Brandon and his co-founder landed a number of stores in New Jersey, New York City and online via cold calls, cold visits and cold emails. The business grew based on whacky designs and a heavy focus on 'micro-influencer' marketing, taking advantage of emerging social media platforms. His senior year, Jazzberry sold over $50,000 in clothes… not bad for an after-school job.

So, how did a 16-year-old build a lucrative business model? What makes anyone, regardless of age, a successful entrepreneur? It may be in the mindset. Brandon is always looking at businesses he interacts with from the perspective of the person running the business: "When most people walk into a nice hotel, they think, 'wow, this place is amazing!' When I walk into one, I'm thinking, who did this? Where did they raise this much money? What do those free mints cost per year? Who supplies the straws to their hotel bar and how much do they sell them for?"

Even with experience in building a new business, and in lead generation, launching one's own business is a daunting task. When asked what made him decide to take on the risks, Brandon replied "I never saw another option, and I still don't. While I loved working for ProofHQ, I don't think I'll work a regular job again. Building business is really my hobby."

"I don't think I'll work a regular job again. Building business is really my hobby."

Perhaps it's Brandon'sperspective of building business as a hobby that helps give OpGen Mediaan edge, too. Instead of keeping primary focus on their own business model, and developing services from it, OpGen Media's focus is to align their services with what helps clients the most. In Brandon's view, "the latter will take care of itself if the clients are happy and generating a return on their investment."

So, what's next for OpGen Media? As OpGen Media continues to offer their lead and sales opportunity generation services, they have begun to rollout Marketing Operations services to address a market need. In addition, OpGen Media is teaming up with Deck 7 to launch '7Gen Media', a B2B demand generation laboratory of sorts, with a focus on creating new software and data models for both Enterprise and SMB business-to-business teams to leverage, providing an unfair advantage over their competition.OpGen Media will also continue an offering started in 2017: working with SMBs to setup and optimize core marketing technologies, while emphasizing lead nurturing and scoring to enable clients to convert leads already being generated.

In regard to advice to potential young entrepreneurs, Brandon believes that age shouldn't play a factor in your professional relationships. "I think once you enter into the world of business, whether you're 8 years old or 80, I look and treat you the same. Not because it's the right thing to do (it is), but because we're all here to make things and sell them and make the end user better off for it."

When it comes to high dynamic range (HDR), you generally have two options: Dolby Vision or HDR10. Dolby Vision currently seems to be king, but if companies want to use it, they need to pay to license it. HDR10 is an open standard but doesn’t support many of the key features of Dolby Vision, so while many TVs offer the tech, it might not look as good. There are other, less popular options like Hybrid Log Gamma, but Dolby Vision and HDR10 remain the main options. Then there is HDR10+, an ope...
