Embracing Android TV™ and BYOD Strategies – Opportunities and Challenges

There are opportunities and challenges for pay-TV operators looking to incorporate Android TV and bring-your-own device strategies into their portfolio. The 2019 Industry Survey conducted by DTVE shows that of the principal choices facing operators today, Android TV operator tier rates as conferring the greatest benefit, as it gives operators prime access to content via Google Play and can be deployed quickly and easily. Respondents were overwhelmingly positive about the benefits of BYOD in theory, while acknowledging its challenges, namely the view that operators can’t ensure the prominence of their own services in a BYOD environment.
