Arch Platform | May 12, 2021
Arch Platform Technologies, a SaaS platform for building and managing powerful, cloud-based studios for content creation, has announced support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) AWS for Media & Entertainment initiative, which aims to speed and simplify the transition to the cloud for the entertainment production industry.
AWS for Media & Entertainment is a program that includes current and established AWS and AWS Partners offerings and solutions tailored for content owners, rights holders, producers, broadcasters, and distributors.AWS for Media & Entertainment also makes it easier to develop, deliver, and recreate mission-critical industry workloads by aligning AWS and AWS Partner skills against five solution areas: Content Production; Media Supply Chain & Archive; Broadcast; Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming; and Data Science & Analytics.
As the need for new content increases rapidly, the entertainment production communities are looking to utilize the cloud to reduce costs, maximize efficiencies, and reduce time-to-market. The Arch Platform is developed to help companies make the transition to the cloud more quickly by allowing them to easily create and maintain professionally resourced digital content development studios for VFX, post-production, virtual production, and other collaborative creative efforts – all while needing a deep understanding of AWS resources and technologies. Arch has built industry-standard and industry-tested configurations for creative resources and workflows using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), AWS Thinkbox Deadline, and AWS CloudFormation to coordinate a multitude of AWS services, reducing the time it takes to launch a new cloud studio to minutes rather than days.
Orchestration service and machine image pipeline studios, networks, producers, and post-production firms can conveniently develop integrated workstations, render farms, storage, and licensing servers, as well as establish users and teams and handle facility and project permits – in one virtual location or several linked ones around the world – using the Arch Platform's intuitive SaaS dashboard. A host of post-production companies have been born entirely in the cloud with the Arch Platform on AWS. These businesses use cloud computing and Arch's entertainment domain experience to work in powerful cloud-based facilities and automated collaboration workflows with no upfront capital expense or technical expertise. Artists can still get the tools they need without being constrained by hardware or location.
Arch uses Amazon EC2 G4 Instances for its workstations. Amazon EC2 G4dn Instances are low-cost, scalable GPU instances for deploying machine learning models with massive efficiency gains. The key to the Arch Platform's orchestration capability is AWS CloudFormation, a cloud-provisioning and resource-management service that allows Arch to easily script repeatable deployments. Currently, any enterprise that uses the Arch Platform will connect with Arch's workflow pipeline, which supports AWS Thinkbox Deadline, a render farm orchestration service and a highly scalable data ingest and distribution system.
The advantages of cloud-based development facilities and collaborative creative teams are understood by studios that use the Arch Platform on AWS. Scalable technology enables them to source the best talent from anywhere in the world and establishes themselves in areas with strong incentives to lower overall costs.
