CastLabs Confirms Support for AWS for Media & Entertainment Initiative
castLabs, a global leader of premium digital video technology, revealed support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) AWS for Media & Entertainment program to help consumers meet their broadcasting and OTT streaming content security needs.
AWS for Media & Entertainment is a program that includes innovative and emerging services and solutions from AWS and AWS Partners that are designed primarily for content owners, copyright holders, developers, broadcasters, and distributors. AWS for Media & Entertainment also makes it easier to build, deploy, and reinvent mission-critical industry workloads by aligning AWS and AWS Partner capabilities across five solution areas: Content Production; Media Supply Chain & Archive; Broadcast; Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming; and Data Science & Analytics.
Monetizing premium content requires content protection across the distribution chain, which can be time-consuming and difficult to implement. DRMtoday, a content security solution from castLabs, offers simplified cloud licensing for conditional access systems (CAS), like Google's Widevine CAS, lowering the cost of securing PayTV video services significantly. CAS has traditionally been synonymous with high startup costs, dependence on proprietary technology, device royalties, and difficult infrastructure maintenance. DRMtoday is intended to enhance security implementation by providing a cloud-based solution that is simple to manage, scale, and run.
Similarly, DRMtoday protects video assets throughout OTT streaming platforms to satisfy the security requirements of copyright owners. castLabs has created a versatile and highly accessible autoscaling server structure that operates as a license distribution network in the cloud across various AWS regions worldwide. It enables the simultaneous implementation of all leading digital rights management (DRM) programs, including Google Widevine, Microsoft PlayReady, and Apple's FairPlay Streaming, with ready-to-use licensing that saves time and resources. DRMtoday by castLabs also includes API integration with the Secure Packager and Encoder Key Exchange (SPEKE) to ease and accelerate protected video deployment workflows.
DRMtoday, in collaboration with AWS Media Services, enables OTT, IPTV, and digital media platforms to efficiently provide turnkey content security for on-demand, live, and offline video workflows. DRMtoday also provides API integration with AWS Elemental MediaPackage and AWS Elemental MediaConvert to simplify key ingestion and cloud-based DRM licensing. A wide range of AWS Media Services streaming formats is supported, including MPEG-DASH, HLS, Smooth Streaming, and CMAF.
Customers gain access to low latency, high availability, and comprehensive redundancy through AWS Regions across the world with single API integration. Other features provided by DRMtoday include concurrent stream restricting, geoblocking, support for various monetization business models, and more.
"We were searching for a multi-DRM solution that's both highly flexible and easy to use for our DRM live and VOD content. The managed service must have an established track record of outstanding results and an extensive feature list. DRMtoday from castLabs was the perfect fit for our diverse set of criteria. The castLabs team has been extremely helpful during the onboarding and transition process "said Hkan hman, TV4's Head of Operations.
