In putting together this updated report, the most striking thing is just how much overwhelming evidence there was that every one of these content industries is absolutely thriving — and it’s almost always because of innovations brought about by the internet. Even in the areas that were struggling in the 2012 report, things have almost entirely turned around by 2019. Indeed, the biggest challenge in putting together this report was figuring out when to stop adding new data and charts to it.
