Halloween update for PUBG MOBILE game features holiday-themed content

Players afraid of the dark are in for a treat, and a few tricks, with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG MOBILE) newest content update, available now on the App Store and Google Play. The 0.9.0 update delivers both tricks and treats to the more than 20 million daily active PUBG MOBILE players, with an all-new night mode on the Erangel map, as well as Halloween-themed in-game content, including new weapons and vehicles, balancing improvements and more.The 0.9.0 update arrives just one month after the introduction of the rugged yet dense Sanhok map as Tencent Games and PUBG Corp continues to amplify and enhance the PUBG MOBILE experience, with new features including:Classic Mode in Erangel will now alternate between day and night, and players can loot for Night Vision Goggles.

FILM PRODUCERS FLIP BARGAINING TABLE WITH UNIONIZING EFFORT

Movie producers often find themselves negotiating with talent and crew members, and/or their production union representatives, over pay and benefits. But a group of 108 producers flipped the script Thursday in announcing they were looking to form a union of their own.Higher minimum pay and health benefits were cited as the two major reasons. While the group, called the Producers Union, boasts some heavy hitters such as Chris Moore (Manchester by the Sea) and Rebecca Green (It Follows), they made it clear that the traditional image of a Hollywood producer is misleading. Many are just getting by, project to project, looking for a breakout hit to up their quote. According to a survey released this year, 41% of producers made less than $25,000 in the pre-pandemic boom times of 2019. The Producers Union has developed a constitution with provisions for dues and diversity initiatives, with the aim of eventually negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with distributors and other film financiers. Previous efforts by producers to unionize have been thwarted by the courts and the National Labor Relations Board, according to Variety, as the NLRB saw them as supervisors and employers – which creates a high barrier to organizing.

Following the stellar success of DC and Marvel in migrating comic book heroes to the big screen, Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched PlayStation Productions, aimed at taking some of its most successful games to the movies and TV.“We’ve got 25 years of game development experience and that’s created 25 years of great games, franchises and stories,” Shawn Layden, chairman of Worldwide Studios at SIE told The Hollywood Reporter.“We feel that now is a good time to look at other media opportunities across streaming or film or television to give our worlds life in another spectrum,” he added. The production company has a potential goldmine of over 100 original games to trawl, from adventure and sci-fi to mystery and horror.“Instead of licensing our IP out to studios, we felt the better approach was for us to develop and produce for ourselves,” explained Asad Qizilbash, who will head the new company: “one, because we’re more familiar, but also because we know what the PlayStation community loves.”
