As virtual reality is gaining a lot of attention across the world, businesses are trying to cash in on the technology before it enters the mainstream market. Although, location-based VR is still far away from becoming a reality of the mainstream, it shows some positive signs. Location-based VR is a unique experience which allows the users to come in contact with an environment that they can only imagine. For an instance, it gives experience that we have only seen in movies. Just imagine climbing a wall of foam that looks like a wall of bricks.

Facebook Continues Virtual-Reality Gaming Push With New Acquisition

Facebook's Oculus division announced on Tuesday that it acquired Sanzaru Games, a video game company known for working on titles in the Sly Cooper and Spyro the Dragon franchises. Sanzaru also has experience developing virtual-reality (VR) games, having released titles exclusively for Facebook's Oculus platform including VR Sports Challenge and Ripcoil in 2016 and Asgard's Wrath in 2019. Sanzaru was the first developer to partner with Oculus in making games, so it's not surprising to see it become part of the broader Facebook family. Facebook hinted that it would buy additional VR development companies when it acquired Beat Games in November, and additional acquisitions could follow soon after the Sanzaru deal.

Microsoft’s xCloud game streaming arrives on iOS with some Apple restrictions

Microsoft is expanding its Project xCloud service to the iPhone today. The software giant is launching a beta of xCloud through Apple’s TestFlight service, allowing xCloud testers to try the service on an iPhone or iPad. It’s the first time we’ve seen a cloud game streaming service appear on iOS since the days of OnLive — and OnLive’s iOS app wound up in limbo when Apple didn’t approve it. Google’s Stadia and Nvidia’s GeForce Now are still not available on Apple’s devices, either, and neither company has been able to tell us when that might change.

Microsoft confirms Xbox Series X will support ‘four generations of gaming’

Today, Microsoft finally unveiled many of the specs for its upcoming Xbox Series X, but the company also detailed something arguably as important: how the console will handle backwards compatibility. According to Microsoft, the Series X will support “four generations” of Xbox games, something the company alluded to last year. “Our commitment to compatibility means existing Xbox One games, including backward-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, look and play better than ever before,” Xbox head Phil Spencer wrote in a blog post.
